Sustainability definition is not just a trend, it’s an issue of global importance. As one of the largest trends in manufacturing today, building sustainability into our manufacturing processes appears to be extremely difficult to understand and achieve. Sustainable manufacturing means conducting environmentally-friendly practices with a business-savvy efficiency.

The concepts of Eco Apparel and Sustainable Fashion mean different things to different individuals. Patriot focus on one thing: Solve the sustainability challenges in fashion through design and technology,

Sustainability Features of the new plant include:

1.Modern Airflow design system where more than 60% fresh air are accesible.

2.Natural lighting where windows are placed to ensure natural lights enter the factory. 

3.The use of extensive daylight to help light the premise where 60 KW solar power will be harnessed to use which will provide 8 MW-H annually. 

4.Energy efficient lighting and LED based task lights reduce the energy used for lighting;

5.Water saving fixture where 40% water can be saved for re use. 

6.Rain water harvensting system which can use later for general use. 

7.Handwash water will be recycled for the toilet flash. 

Low energy cooling systems to replace air conditioning. Other cooling measures include ’green’ roofs (roof with vegetation on top), cool roofs (roof with high solarreflectivity), and strategically positioned courtyards with wide arrays of greenbelts to cool the microclimate. ‘Eco’ bricks were also used in construction to help maintain a cool interior.

These combined features will enable the facility to save around 40% on electricity compared to a similar scale factory. It will also reduce its water usage by approximately 50% by capturing rainwater to be used in toilet facilities, waste water management systems and ‘low-flow’ fixtures.


Other notable features include:

1. Part of the construction is on stilts to avoid excavation of the earth during construction and to aid natural rain flow;
2. Cement-stabilized-earth walkways and roads;
3. Anaerobic digestion sewage treatment facility with bio-gas captured for the kitchen.

Sustainability definition isn’t something that’s going to be achieved overnight. Sustainable practices are not stagnant and so it’s important to be up to date on current and upcoming initiatives.
